An Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or First Responder provides initial, stabilizing care at the scene of an emergency while waiting for EMTs or paramedics to arrive. Their primary role is to perform life-saving interventions to prevent a patient’s condition from worsening.
Sunflower County Emergency Medical Response Association began with a small group of volunteers who organized Rescue Company 2, based in Inverness, Mississippi, and has since grown to over two dozen volunteers providing prehospital medical and trauma care to the ill and injured of Sunflower County, hazardous materials operational response, and specialized medical support to high—risk law enforcement
The volunteers of the Sunflower County Emergency Medical Response Association provide their services, free of charge and at little cost to the citizens of Sunflower County, in the Indianola, Inverness, Moorhead, Sunflower, Ruleville, Drew, and Linn-Steiner—Roundaway areas of the county.
Emergency Medical Responder crews utilize Company callsigns, although they are not uniformly used. EMR/Rescue callsigns track their FD's district number. Sunflower County Emergency Medical Response provides a variety of prehospital trauma and medical responses.

Requirements
Minimum requirements are:
18 years of age
Valid driver's license
Ability to pass a drug screening
Clean criminal record
Good physical condition
Successful completion of initial Emergency Medical Responder training (60-80 hours)
